Debit and credit cards

Still the default in most markets, and still the slowest thing on the withdrawal side. Deposits are instant thanks to 3DS-authorised push payments. Withdrawals go via card refund rails and inherit refund-processing timelines, typically 1-3 business days after operator approval.

Credit cards are banned for gambling in the UK and increasingly restricted elsewhere. Where they're allowed, treat the interest rate as an additional house edge.

Pick cards when: you don't have an e-wallet, and speed of withdrawal isn't your priority.

E-wallets

Skrill and Neteller dominate the affiliate-casino ecosystem for one reason: they're fast both ways. Deposit lands instantly, withdrawals typically clear in under 4 hours once operator approval happens.

Downside: some casinos exclude e-wallet deposits from welcome bonus eligibility. Read the promo T&Cs before depositing.

Regional wallets (MB Way in Portugal, iDEAL as a legacy wallet in the Netherlands, MuchBetter in the UK) are worth checking if you're outside the Skrill/Neteller footprint. Availability at your casino is the deciding factor.

Pick e-wallets when: you play often, want faster withdrawals, and don't mind losing a bit of bonus eligibility.

Open Banking / pay-by-bank

New in the last 24 months, now supported at 80% of tier-1 operators. Deposit lands in 10-30 seconds via your banking app. Withdrawals via the same rail land in the same window once operator approval is done.

No card details typed, no card fees. The Payout Log shows Trustly-routed withdrawals routinely landing in under 2 minutes at Nordic-friendly casinos.

Pick Open Banking when: it's supported at your casino and both directions (deposit AND withdrawal) use the same rail.

Crypto

Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum for on-chain; USDT and USDC for stablecoin. Speed depends on network: Tron-USDT is fastest (near-instant, ~$0.10 network fee). Bitcoin is 10-60 min depending on network congestion. Ethereum ERC-20 fees can be prohibitive during high-gas periods.

No fiat conversion, no card processor risk, no bank clearing time. Downside: your local currency exposure is bet-on-bet with the coin's price movement, unless you use stablecoins.

Pick crypto when: your casino supports stablecoins natively (settlement in USDT/USDC without conversion), or you already hold crypto for other reasons.

Direct bank transfer

Slowest option both ways. The reason to use it is high limits, bank transfer is often the only method that clears £10, 000+ per transaction. Also useful for compliance-heavy jurisdictions where regulators prefer the paper trail.

Faster Payments (UK) and SEPA Instant (EU) have narrowed the speed gap significantly. If your bank supports either, ask whether your casino processes withdrawals over those rails, it turns a 3-day wait into a 30-minute one.

Pick bank transfer when: you need high per-transaction limits, or your casino doesn't offer faster alternatives.

Choosing the right method

Three questions to answer:

  1. How fast do you need withdrawals? Under an hour → e-wallet, Open Banking, or Tron-USDT. Same day → any of the above plus faster payments bank transfer. 1-3 days is fine → card is OK.
  2. How much do you deposit at a time? Under £1, 000 → all methods work. £1, 000-£10, 000 → e-wallet, Open Banking or bank transfer. Above £10, 000 → bank transfer or crypto only.
  3. Do you care about bonus eligibility? Cards and Open Banking are usually eligible. E-wallets and crypto often are not.

Frequently asked questions

What's the fastest withdrawal method in 2026?

Stablecoin on Tron (USDT-Tron) at crypto casinos, sub-3-minute end-to-end. For fiat, Open Banking via Trustly clears in under 2 minutes at Nordic operators. E-wallets are next, at 30 min-4 hours.

Are casino payment fees usually paid by the casino or the player?

Almost always the casino for deposits. Withdrawals can attract a per-transaction fee from some operators (usually £2-5 on bank transfer). Cards and Open Banking are usually free both ways.

Can I mix payment methods for deposit and withdrawal?

Casinos require withdrawals to go back to the source of the deposit for anti-money-laundering reasons. Some allow bank transfer withdrawal against any deposit method. Check the cashier or contact support before your first withdrawal.
